This book was wonderful!

It helped me learn micro-economics.

Its sections on probability, permutation, and combination were relatively clear and informative.

Easy-to-follow steps and mildly challenging problems, with formulas introduced in about the right places.

An easy approach to materials which may challenge some students, and leave others asking for more.

A happy medium between mildly difficult and way too easy.

With this book, there is a chance that struggling college students will catch up, and also that better students will be impressed.

Overall, a high-quality textbook.

Incredible!

Lulu Swiegard's Human Movement Potential is a must read for every serious yoga student. Its the source book for what's call ideokinesis, a name she coined for a wonderful system of body-mind education based on the use of creative imagery. Ideokinesis can be translated roughly as the 'image or thought as facilitator of the movement.'

Much of what I learned in Yoga classes in my early years as a student I found echoed in Sweigard's book, which was written in the 1970s. This book is chock full of the most erudite knowledge pertaining to how postures and phsyical development connects with our personalities, needs, strengths, and challenges.

Two other great books on the topic that I recommend are: Ideokinesis: A Creative Approach to Human Movement and The Thinking Body.

Kathleen Stassen Berger completed her undergraduate education at Stanford University and Radcliffe College, earned her M.A.T. from Harvard University and an M.S. and Ph.D. from Yeshiva University. Her broad range of experience as an educator includes directing a preschool, teaching philosophy and humanities at the United Nations International School, teaching child and adolescent development to graduate students at Fordham University, teaching inmates earning paralegal degrees at Sing Sing Prison, and teaching undergraduates at both Montclair State University and Quinnipiac University. She has also been involved in education as the president of Community School Board in District Two in Manhattan.

For over three decades, Berger has taught human development at Bronx Community College of the City University of New York. The students Kathleen Berger teaches every year come from diverse ethnic, economic, and educational backgrounds representing a wide range of interests and consistently honor her with the highest teaching evaluations.

Berger s developmental texts are currently being used at nearly 700 colleges and universities in a dozen countries and in five languages. Poor editing for both detail and content

There are a lot of typos, and I noticed some inaccuracies in graphs and charts as well. Throughout the textbook it was pretty common for the author to compare apples to oranges when discussing statistics, so it came across like she was trying to persuade and push an agenda rather than represent reality. As far as I know, much of the developmental information and descriptions of various theories are accurate, but since I'm not a psych major or fact checking the textbook, the above problems make the whole book seem suspect to me.

If you are an instructor, think twice before assigning this book. The publisher should be ashamed to be selling such a shoddily edited book at these prices.

if you are a poor college student such as me

I had to get the textbook for a class. The information was very knowledgeable and I didn't have a hard time with it. However, if you are a poor college student such as me, looking to renting the e-book can sometimes be cheaper. But with this book, it's probably better to just buy the damn thing. Renting it on here made me mad because I had to pay $73 twice so I could finish my course. I don't know how I had missed that the expiration date was in the middle of the freaking semester, but I did. I could have sworn I had arranged the expiration to December but, c'est la vie. Goodbye pay check, it was nice knowin' ya.

Affordable way to get a great book!

I bought this book for a class, but I am really enjoying it! It's well written and informative and I want to hang on to it after class is over so I can apply it to my own life and work. That said, this book is PRICY...so I was thrilled to be offered a loose-leaf option! It saved me a bunch of money and I just pop the chapters I need into a binder for class!. A word of warning, the pages do get folded and bent more easily when in loose leaf format, so just be careful!

Ten Boom co-wrote her autobiography, The Hiding Place with Americans JOHN AND ELIZABETH SHERRILL who have edited Guidepost magazine and have authored several books.

A Jew's View--Thank you

I was absolutely absorbed by this book. I looked forward to every time I picked it up to read. I must start by saying that I am Jewish and absolutely do NOT share the religious views of Corrie Ten Boom. But, this story is so engrossing and moving that my religious views were irrelevant. This is the remarkable story of a remarkable family that literally laid their lives out to save Jews in Holland during WWII. These are people I wish I could hug. Don't be put off by the religious views expressed. Those views caused heroic people to show mercy and empathy in the most brutal period in recent history. The views were not preachy. I only wish that I could do something good for any person that would give respect for the wonderful people in this story.

this account does an amazing job of describing step-by-step

Amongst the countless survival stories of WWII, specifically surrounding Nazi Germany and its occupation in Europe, this account does an amazing job of describing step-by-step, just how slowly and insidiously the takeover of Holland and other countries crept into the victims' lives, changing them or eliminating them forever.

The author, Corrie Ten Boom, above all else, kept her faith and her love for humanity in a sacred place within her, allowing her to survive and recover from the innumerable violations of her dignity, and the witnessing of endless, horrific suffering by herself and others. She was also able to summon and direct her inner strength, enough to spread the word of faith in a higher power, specifically Jesus and the Bible, to thousands of people worldwide, following her unspeakable ordeal which lasted several years. Her experience included losing most of her cherished family members, as well as many friends dear to her.

For the author to, in such detailed fashion, recall and record this part of her life, is a huge testament to human endurance and resiliency, with deep pain being such an important part of her story. I highly recommend this book to anyone who may have even a faint interest in this chapter of history, with hopes of history never repeating itself.

I was glad to find this book still in print

This true story of Corrie's family life and living in Holland and thinking that they would be protected from the war in Germany. In the beginning it's peaceful until the ugly part of life took over in her town. The decision to hide the Jews was a big cross to bear and they finally were found out and taken to the camps. The terrible treatment they had to endure, the lack of warm clothing and having to stand outside for hours etc. After a few months Corrie's sister died and later Corrie was given permission to leave. She was the only one in her age group that was given permission to leave the camp by God's design and the next day all the women her age were euthanized. It's a hard book to read but the writer keeps the reader moving on because the second book, Tramp For the Lord explains why she was directed by God for humankind.

About the Author

Paul C. Cozby is Professor of Psychology at California State University, Fullerton, and Northcentral University. Dr. Cozby was an undergraduate at the University of California, Riverside, and received his Ph.D. in psychology from the University of Minnesota. He is a fellow of the American Psychological Association, member of the Association for Psychological Science, and has served as officer of the Society for Computers in Psychology. He is Executive Officer of the Western Psychological Association. He is the author of Using Computers in the Behavioral Sciences and co-editor with Daniel Perlman of Social Psychology.

Scott C. Bates is a Professor of Psychology, Associate Dean of the School of Graduate Studies, and Associate Vice President for Research at Utah State University. He earned a B.S. in Psychology from Whitman College, an M.S. in Psychology from Western Washington University, and a Ph.D. in social psychology from Colorado State University. His research interests and experiences are varied. He has conducted research in areas as wide-ranging as adolescent problem behavior and problem-behavior prevention, teaching and learning in higher education, and the psychology consequences of growing and tending plants in outer space.

Its quant. No one loves quant. Yes, its easier than statistics, especially math based (vs psych based), but hey it's still quant. Not a bad book. Lots of info on the web to answer the review questions for class.

Renting through Amazon this type of very expensive Books is a must, dude, the Book thugh good is very expensive, not wrth buying, Authors are ABUSING putting newer editions to almost same books to self-profit, that is bad, man, for students and people starting $$$, happily Amazon rental Service exists.(Other Options : chek-out this books at Public Library, nenew if needed)

American author and the originator of Western novels. Grey was a prolific writer and wrote more than 80 books which sold over 13,000,000 copies in his lifetime. Wildfie - about a horse and a fire

This was a very enjoyable story - although somewhat sad in the end - I enjoyed it very much. It's basically a story about a young woman back in the 1800s, who meets a young man and how their relationship grows around a wild horse he caught and she tamed.

Descriptive landscape

Zane Grey is forever a painter of western landscape. His descriptions of mountain trails, sagebrush and western topography allow the reader to be transported to America's frontier heritage. There is limited suspense in the developing romance between characters, but you always know that strong personalities prevail and good triumphs over evil. I enjoyed revisiting Wildfire on the Kindle.

I highly recommend this book. It is an awesome story of the Wild West. Zane Grey captures the essence of the west and paints such a wonderful picture of the Durango, Colorado area. This story starts with the thrilling capture of a wild stallion and continues with the effects that the horse has on the young lady who won the stallions trust and love. The young lady is a heroine and the horse is a hero. I first read this book as a teenager and it had such an impact on my dreams that I vowed to visit this area of Colorado when I reached adulthood. I have visited this area numerous times and will always feel a sense of home when I am in Durango.

Just recently, I was in the southern plains of Colorado in the Mesa Verde Valley, not far from Durango. My husband was driving and quickly got off to the side of the dirt road we were traveling. He jumped out of the car and all he said was "Wild horses!" As I jumped out of the car along side of him, we looked off of the cliff where we were parked. We noticed a small herd of mustangs. It is a picture that will be etched in my heart forever. As I grabbed my camera and took a picture, the stallion of the herd looked up at me with understanding and a peacefulness that I cannot explain. The snow capped Rockies in the background along with the peaceful herd of beautiful wild animals allowed me to get a glimpse of the past and reminded me of the days of "Wildfire".
