This book aims to give logically consistent reasoning for the dismissal of the idea of intelligent design through philosophical discourse based on given evidence of how our universe works. In these pages, I will address the logical fallacies I see in any intelligent design model that poses the notion of a creator god who created the universe with specific intent and purpose. It is my hope that I can offer many pieces of evidence that show such an idea of an intelligent designer is not only logically inconsistent but also absurd. To do this, I will focus on three main points of contention: intelligence, design, and purpose. By taking an in-depth look at those ideas, I hope to show that intelligent design theories only raise more questions than answers.

About the Author
Casper Rigsby is a 34 year old husband and father. He is the author of the bestselling title The Bible in a Nutshell, a prominent blogger at Atheist Republic, and a very vocal advocate for out of the closet atheism. His works seek to address fundamentalism at its roots through theological and philosophical discourse, which is also highly irreverent and often even blasphemous. His straight-forward and blunt approach can be abrasive to some and refreshing to others.

After that base is set he goes about demolishing intelligent design in a very concise manner
By Rae
I really appreciated this book The author begins with an example of a very cut and dry argument that anyone can understand and agree with the outcome of. He then assures the reader that he will be staying within the guidelines of a proper debate and even sets forth rules that he will follow. After that base is set he goes about demolishing intelligent design in a very concise manner. I found myself chuckling at moments because the argument is so sound that you would have to outright ignore facts in an effort to not agree. This was my first book by the Author Casper Rigsby but because of it I have decided to purchase his others!

A Limited and Flawed Perspective
By Kindle Customer
Flawed facts and flawed arguments abound. I'm a skeptic. As far as religion goes, I sit on the fence because neither side, the religious nor the atheists, have convincing arguments. If they did, we would be mostly one or the other. I read this book with interest to see if it tilts the balance. The author is an atheist, which is obvious from the bias in the book. To start, there are several flawed analyses. Marathon running as a counter example to the superior physical strength of males also displays the superior endurance of males. The mean marathon running times of males is faster than females even though males weigh more. If this analogy is used to illustrate a logical argument, it in fact does the opposite. The author asserts that science hasn't yet come up with a definitive answer, yes or no, for the existence of God. The only two possible outcomes are yes and we don't know. It can never say no because absence of evidence isn't evidence of absence. The logic of, whales are mammals because they give birth to their young is flawed when we look at the duck-billed platypus and the spiny ant-eater. The efficiency of a bicycle is not its gear ratio. A full revolution of the crank and a 3/4 revolution of the wheel is not 75% efficient. All engineers would cringe at this. I point out these flaws to illustrate the wonky thinking behind the premise of the whole book. That is, someone's belief, supported by contrived analogies of logic, without a precise comprehension of the facts. In my opinion, using science and logic to prove or disprove the existence of God is futile. For a start, while we may have fooled ourselves into thinking that we knew almost everything there was to know scientifically at an earlier period in time, quantum physics has totally destroyed that notion. In fact, nobody understands the behavior of matter at the quantum level as it defies all the logic of classical physics. How can we therefore base any assessment of intelligence in the design of the universe and physical reality, when we are so far from understanding it ourselves. If I were a science fiction writer, I would propose that God set up the universe as a test. Given that the earth will be destroyed when the Sun expands to a red giant some 5 billion years in the future, will life be able to evolve to move to another solar system? In reality, all bets are off as 2/3 of the planet hasn't gotten past where their next meal is coming from and the other 1/3, where their next paycheck is coming from. But I digress, I found the book lacking in robustness of logic and in not bringing anything new to the argument.

Excellent explanation

Easy, quick read on a complex subject. I have a better understanding of my own beliefs and how to explain to others. Too bad some people are too closed minded to read this.
